Yorkshire Day

1st August 2021

Initially created by the Yorkshire Ridings Society in 1975, Yorkshire Day is a celebration of the county and its rich, interesting history. As a Yorkshire-based community, we, of course, will all be enjoying the day and thought we’d share some facts about our county that you might not already be aware of.

  2. Famous people from Yorkshire include Guy Fawkes, the Brontë sisters, Dick Turpin, Jess Ennis and Nicola Adams.
  3. Hardraw Force, near Hawes, is England’s largest single-drop waterfall.

  5. Leeds, York, and Scarborough are among the top ten most-visited English towns by UK residents.
