Making the most of the Yorkshire Dales

10th August 2022

In our last post, we gave some advice about dealing with worry and stress in the gap between exams and results day. One of tips was to stay busy and taking advantage of the Yorkshire Dales’ beautiful scenery is a great distraction. Here are three ways to get outside and enjoy the local area:

  1. Go on a walk! Yorkshire is renowned for its beautiful walks, but it’s easy to forget when it’s on your doorstep. You can find 7 walks based in the Wensleydale area curated by Great British Life here, just make sure you’re with a guardian if you’re venturing far from home.
  2. Become a nature artist. If you’re a creative person, leaving your comfort zone can be a great way to expand your craft. Take a leaf out of famous artist Andy Goldsworthy’s book and see what you can make out of things you find outside. Have a look at the pictures at the end of this post for inspiration.
  3. Get up to see the sunrise. The only thing more beautiful than the Yorkshire Dales is the Yorkshire Dales at sunrise. The National Trust has a great guide for this activity, here. Again – remember to let a grown-up know if you’re heading out in the early hours.
