Students from Wensleydale School and Sixth Form have secured some of the school’s best ever A-Level results.
Collectively the students achieved a host of A*s, As and Bs, and are going on to some of the top universities in the country to continue their education.
Julia Polley, Headteacher, said: “Every single person who sat an exam should be incredibly proud of these outstanding set of results.
“When you look down the list of results, it is amazing to see that their hard work and effort has paid off. Most have not just achieved what they were aiming for, but have exceeded their own expectations.
“What is incredibly rewarding is knowing that the students don’t just see today as a milestone to mark the end of their education. They want to use these results as a springboard to help them achieve their goals. That ambition is so impressive.
“Whether it be studying pure maths, politics and chemistry at Russell Group universities, starting a career in midwifery or looking at developing their own business, I have every confidence that the Class of 2017 will go on to mark their mark in the future.”
Among the smiling students was James Allen and Rob Bartlett who both secured A*A*B and will head off to study Politics and International Relations at York and Pure Maths at Newcastle.
Joe Everitt has been accepted to read History at Leeds. Louis Dinsdale is going to Loughborough to study Automotive Engineering and Melisssa Solway is going to Cumbria to start her career as a Midwife.
Amy Weatherald, who did fantastically well to achieve the grades to read War Studies at York St John, said: “I am really pleased with my results, the school staff have helped me so much both academically and personally.”
Charles Barnett, Head of the Sixth Form at Wensleydale, said: “Year-on-year are results are improving, and today is a testament of the progress we are making as a school.
“Our ambition for our Sixth Form, however, does not stop here. We are continually reviewing how we can enhance what we offer to respond to the ambitions of our students and the needs of our wider community.
“The future is incredibly exciting.”
