Peer Mentoring scheme is launched

14th January 2020
Today Wensleydale School students took part in peer mentor training. Delivered by Wellbeing Mentor, Nathalie Carter, and our KS4 Progress Leader Mrs Hall, the programme will equip students with the skills and knowledge to be a key point of contact in school for students who need support. Miss Carter has been delivering mentoring in school over the past couple of years, imparting this knowledge to young people will create capacity in our student body to use their own experiences to mentor others. Darlington Mind came along to deliver a session on mental health for peer mentors – something that is, and will continue to be a vital element of the wellbeing offer in The Wensleydale School.
9 students were trained today, however we expect to train up to 20 by the end of the year and offer peer mentoring to at least 100 students this year.
