School will close at 3.45 pm today for the foreseeable future. Social distancing measures are an essential part of our country’s war on coronavirus. Keeping children at home lowers the risk and helps create further downward pressure on the COVID-19 curve. Scientific evidence suggests this will delay the peak of the virus until May/June and relieve some of the immediate pressure on the NHS. Please see today’s letter by clicking here for further information on the classification of key workers. If you fall into this category and cannot make arrangements for your child/ren to be cared for at home, then please follow the directions in the letter and either complete the Google form, or email us the information we need. We ask that you do this urgently please.
Later today, we will issue guidance on how your child/ren will be educated from home. We will provide a timetable of virtual learning for Key Stage 3 students via EdLounge. Students in Year 10 will follow virtual lessons via Google Classroom. Almost all students have tested their access now and any connectivity issues have been addressed. If your child tells you they cannot access the learning we set, please contact us urgently via email at admin@wensleydaleschool.net. It is essential that learning continues at home, as schools could be closed until the autumn; we need parental support to ensure this is the case. As far as Year 11 and Year 13 are concerned, we are awaiting news from Ofqual regarding how results will be determined. We will post this information here, as soon as it is available. We appreciate this is a very worrying time for exam students, however perhaps some comfort can be taken from the fact that every Year 11 and Year 13 student in England is facing the same anxieties. We will do everything expected of us to ensure awarding bodies are provided with up-to-date accurate information on expected achievement. Please watch this space for further news.
