Headteacher’s update

17th May 2019

A headteachers role can be challenging. For much of my time at Wensleydale I have been able to stand back – view things strategically and make decisions that are wide ranging and need careful leadership. Sometimes, however, you just need to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. During the very sad time since James’ death, I have been touched and extremely grateful for the attitude and professionalism of our staff and students. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone is pulling together.

The GCSEs and A level exams are now in full swing. As last year, students are rising to the challenge, attendance at revision sessions is impressive and there is a sense of quiet determination across the school.
There are a raft of projects underway and many changes facing us in the coming months. I would like to thank parents and students for being patient on a number of issues but particularly, as we adapt and improve our catering service. We are now well on the way to launching the new offer.

I would like to hold a Parents Information evening in July. There are a number of changes I am proposing for September, that need to be discussed and shared in an open forum. Further details will follow.

For now we are supporting each other, getting on with the job and most importantly sending our support and love to the Ashcroft family.
