 Pay Band NYG-F Point 9-13 (£23,194-£24,948.(pro rata))

  We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join the learning support team. We are committed to ensuring every student reaches their full potential and we are looking for colleagues who will help shape this vision and join a friendly, supportive and committed team.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Headteacher- Behaviour and Attitudes, the post holder will  support the welfare and progress of students in their learning, behaviour and transitions. Leading on pastoral support to students, providing advice and guidance and implementing agreed plans to encourage learning and overcome barriers to learning. Working with students in school who are experiencing complex emotionally demanding situations due to outside influences, requiring sensitivity.

Duties of the post will include:

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with students, providing mentoring support to targeted students
  • Coordinate the supply of references on students to further education establishments and employers
  • Organises the collection of statements from pupils following an incident
  • Deals with queries and problems in relation to students
  • Deals with correspondence in relation to student welfare and behaviour
  • Supports the transition process for students e.g when moving schools/further education establishments or moving into employment
  • Plans schedules of work missed for students sent home for non-compliance of school rules and supports the reintegration of those who have been absent
  • Receives unwell students and contact their parents as necessary
  • Work alongside the attendance officer to monitor students attendance and punctuality and work with them to improve it
  • Work with progress leaders to undertake assessments of pupils to determine those in need of particular help and develop a support plan of appropriate interventions and action
  • To undertake tasks to support the roles of the progress leaders
